“You are my strength and comfort, you are my steady hand, you are my firm foundation, the rock on which I stand”. Lyrics from “Trust in You” by Lauren Daigle

Today, we had the privilege of serving 36 people.
- We met up with a new friend today, (Gerard). We pulled up to him sitting on a bench on Main Street with a blanket over his head and his walker beside him. We asked him, “could you use some help?” He seemed startled and when he saw our packet of $10 bill/$10 Dunkin Donuts card/prayer card, he started to get up but was struggling. I told him to stay there. We offered him snacks, Gatorade as he kept saying, “God bless you.” I suppose he thought he was invisible to the outside world with his blanket over his head but if we are to act in the way of Jesus, no one should be invisible.
- It was sad to see our friends, who were once sharing an apartment with a kind soul, back on the street. It doesn’t take long to notice the physical decline in just a few weeks. Along with them, (Kathy/James) never made the leap of faith to go into treatment. They were still on the street. What I was really moved by is when Kathy circled the women, along with a new friend (Sarah) in a group hug and a short prayer. The women had tears in their eyes. What struck me is this is what we should be doing when making our trip through town. Our words may not change their lifestyle but praying in a group makes a huge impact.
- Our friend (Robbie) was back on the street in his wheelchair and hospital pajamas. He was robbed a couple of days ago after he cashed his check. There is always an element on the street that preys on the weak and lonely.
- On our last stop we saw our friends where we normally meet them. As we pulled up there were 25-30 people inside the parking garage waiting. Needless to say, some were not happy that they didn’t get our packet because we ran out. As I was telling them this, one of the gentlemen said, “That’s ok you are only one person”.
God Bless,
