“When I showed the worst, He saw the best, He pulled the world right off my chest” lyrics from song, “God Must Really Love Me” by Craig Morgan
September 20, 2025
Today, we had the privilege of serving 36 people.
- We met up with our friends (Jay) and (Raymond). (Raymond) had asked for a tent last week and we were able to bring him one this morning. He had been sharing a tent with (Jay). In talking with (Jay), he told us that Annie is moving into a ¾ sober house and interviewing for a job. She is a miracle and sets an example for others that they can get free from the bondage of the street.
- We ran into (Mary) who had survived an assault from a guy who threw her off a bridge about 6 months ago. She returned to the same streets that almost killed her. We were happy to see her; her face was a little deformed, but she is alive. The best part is she was clutching a letter for entrance into a treatment facility the following morning. We mentioned we had friends that worked there and to call us if she needed anything. We have mentioned to many of our friends that we have friends in the recovery field. We give them our cell phone numbers to call us. Someday the phone will ring.
- We met (Rosie) walking down the street juggling a bunch of individual bags with her whole world in them. She was complaining about how she was treated at one of the shelters. In talking to her we knew she was street tough with tattoos on her arms and hands. We gave her our $10 bill/$10 Dunkin Donuts card/prayer card, along with socks, underwear, tee shirts, and a much larger bag to keep her small bags in. We often wonder what the rest of our friends’ days involve after we pull away. Some of them head to L Street Mission to get something to eat. We mentioned our friend, Peg to (Rosie). She said she was working with her a while back maybe attending an anger management class. Our friends have a lot of underlying issues that are all bottled up inside waiting to escape. The physical and mental abuse some of them suffer is heartbreaking.
- On a brighter note, we ran into a couple (Chris and Gina) who were so happy because they had just got approved for housing and were moving into their studio apartment on Monday. They were so thankful for what we were doing for them and others. With the weather starting to change, hooded sweatshirts, sweatpants, along with blankets have been in demand. We continue to pray for our friends and ask God to give them whatever we can.
We have changed our location for Donations for OSM from Holy Cross Retreat House to My Brother’s Keeper. We currently have a box in the main stairway on the 1st floor of MBK.
God Bless,
