“Ooh, a storm is threatening my very life today, If I don't get some shelter, Ooh yeah, I'm gonna fade away” lyrics from song “Gimme Shelter” by the Rolling Stones

June 27, 2026

Today we had the privilege of serving 42 people.

  • We had a busy morning today with a lot of old and new friends out early.  We ran into two new friends (Janice, Beverly).  They both were new to the streets.  Both were wearing flip flops and we were able to dig up some women’s sneakers that fit them along with some leggings, socks, snacks and our packet of $10 bill/$10 Dunkin Donuts card/prayer card.  When speaking to them we got the impression they were a little naïve to the darkness of this lifestyle.  (Janice) was complaining that she had her tablet stolen and doesn’t know how someone could have seen where she had it.  We told her people are always watching, especially if you have something of value.
  • We have given out our cell numbers to some of our friends in the event they wanted to go into treatment, but today all the phone calls were about if we were around this morning.  Even after doing this ministry for 2-1/2 years, we are still learning the ropes, the most important thing is we show up for our new and old friends.
  • My dog, Tito, was a big hit this morning.  I had the windows down and everyone was asking about him.  I told him how we had rescued him from a shelter right after we had lost our dog, Bronson.  It’s amazing when our friends see Tito how they reminisce about being a child and having a favorite dog; some get tears in their eyes.
  • We got overwhelmed at some of our regular stops and had to keep driving without stopping.  With the large crowds, it can get ugly when someone doesn’t get something someone else did.  On our last stop we saw our old friends (Dave, Richard) with some new friends.  Tee shirts were in demand and we ran out.  I told them some had been dropped off at MBK and I would grab them and come by again this morning.  I stopped by later and gave out a bunch of tee shirts and snacks.
  • We are still worried about our long-time friend (Jessie) who we have not seen in over a month.  The word is he is in a bad way, but we can’t find him.  We leave word with our friends that we are looking for him and to call us.

“Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me”. Matthew 10:40
