“Lord I come, I confess bowing here, I find my rest without you, I fall apart, you’re the one that guides my heart” lyrics from song, “Lord I Need You” by Matt Maher

Today, we had the privilege of serving 33 people.
- Some Saturday mornings seem to blend into each other until we run into a new friend or old one. We met up with (Jose) who we had not seen in a few months. When we asked where he had been he said he was living in Dorchester. He then asked where we have been. We told him we have been here almost every Saturday. He replied, “I thought you were fishing on Saturdays”. I told him no, I fish during the week. Then he asked me to take him fishing someday to which I replied, “Maybe we can arrange that.” This exchange reminded me of the conversation I had with Bobby who died in his wheelchair a few weeks ago. For a brief moment our friends, when they talk of some day doing things like fishing or lying on a beach like Bobby, it temporarily removes them from the reality of standing on the same street corner or doorway. Sadly, the illusion of their addictions doesn’t match the reality of it. We just need to be a vessel of God’s unending love, and leave the judgment to Him alone. Handing out our packet of $10 bill/$10 Dunkin Donuts card/prayer card along with Gatorade, water, snacks, socks, underwear, tee shirts, sneakers, helps to show them we do care.
- We ran into our friend (Kathy) whose daughter’s birthday is tomorrow. Another birthday, holiday, etc., estranged from their families.
- We also found out our friend (Bosch) is back in the hospital all banged up from another fall. His friend (Ruth) told us this time he wants to go into treatment. We can only hope and pray.
- We ran into our friend (Sam), who has a prosthetic leg, pushing his walker. He was telling us he needed compression socks for his good leg. I told him we have a bunch and will bring them to him next Saturday.
God Bless,

“Compassion asks us to go where it hurts, to enter in the places of pain, to share in brokenness, fear, confusion and anguish. Compassion challenges us to cry out with those in misery, to mourn with those who are lonely, to weep with those in tears. Compassion requires us to be weak with the weak, vulnerable with the vulnerable, and powerless with the powerless. Compassion means full immersion in the condition of being human.” Henri Nouwen
