“I’ve had choices since the day I was born, there were voices that told me right from wrong, if I had listened, no I wouldn’t be here today. I’m living and dying with the choices I’ve made” lyrics from song “Choices” by George Jones

Today, we had the privilege of serving 30 people.

  • We’ve been seeing our new friend (Tommy) the last couple of weeks.  He was with his friend (Dave).  They are always very polite and grateful.  (Tommy) has a small job cleaning up the town with a former homeless gentleman.  This job gives him a sense of dignity and purpose.  You can tell when he talks about what he does he is so proud.  We are happy for him
  • We ran into our friend (Robbie) who left the hospital AMA.  He was sitting in his wheelchair in his hospital pajamas with blood on the top part of his pajamas.  He had a large scrape on his forehead from falling out of his wheelchair.  I told him to get his head wound looked at, but he refuses any medical attention.  We gave his friend (Sarah) a large pack of wipes, along with a hoodie, sweatpants, crocs, socks, with our packet of $10 bill/$10 Dunkin Donuts card/prayer card.  (Robbie) listens to (Sarah); maybe he will let her clean him up.
  • Our friend (Bosch) was with a few of our friends.  He didn’t look good.  When we ask how he’s doing, the answer is always “I’m fine”.  His face was visibly swollen with red eyes.  He is a kind, gentle soul; he most likely was attacked by his soul mate (Rosie) who he has had a turbulent relationship with.
  • We ran into (Kathy/James).  When we ran into them last week, I was very short with (James) because of a joke he made.  It bothered me all week that I reacted the way I did.  Some of our friends commented that they were nervous about my reaction.  I apologized to (Kathy/James) and tried to explain my frustration, reminding them we met 8 months ago, and their physical appearance is nothing like it is now, telling them their daughter needs her parents.  They both know we would do anything for them to help them towards recovery.  I must remind myself we are not in the outcome business.  We are in the availability business, and we need to leave the outcome to God.  Our prayers will continue for them.  They did tell us they were going into treatment on Monday.  Hopefully this happens.

Thank you for the continued support of On the Street Ministry.

God Bless,

Claire and Shaun Teed and Tito
