“Hey you! Out there in the cold getting lonely, getting old, can you free me”. Lyrics from the song, “Hey You” by Pink Floyd.
March 28, 2026
“This week and today we had the privilege of serving 24 people.
- With the return of the cold and a shooting of a man this week where our friends hang out, kept several of our friends away from the street this morning. We ran into our friend (Nick) who told us he was not going to be around for a while. When asked why he said he was turning himself in, most likely stemming from an old warrant. He talked about getting a new start when he got out of jail. We told him we can help get him into an after program if he wants. We always hope and pray our friends follow through with a program after they get off the street. It’s tough for our friends to fight through the fear and anxiety of going into a program and leaving this present life behind. We had one of our friends go into a program but left after three weeks when the anxiety and fear got so great. Some of our friends are addicted to the chaos of street life and cannot function in a normal life setting.
- We ran into our friend (Amy) who we had not seen in a couple of months. She was so excited to see us; we gave her our packet of $10 bill/$10 Dunkin Donuts card/prayer card, snacks, sweatshirt, sweatpants. She was trying to juggle everything in her hands and trying to contain her excitement, so we gave her a bag to put everything in.
- We ran into our friends (Kathleen) and (Sam). The boots we gave Kathleen were stolen and we were able to give her a pair of men’s high-top sneakers that fit her.
