“And take my past and take my sins like an empty sail takes the wind” Lyrics from the song “Heal” by Tom Odell

November 15, 2025

Today, we had the privilege of serving 38 people.

  • When meeting up with our new and old friends during this time of year, it brings a certain sadness.  With the cold weather and entering into the holiday season, our friends wear the faces of sadness and desperation knowing the decisions they make will determine if it’s going to be another winter on the street, being cold, hungry, sick and lonely.
  • With the generosity of supporters of On the Street Ministry, we were able to purchase sweatpants, gloves, sweatshirts and hand warmers.  The gloves and hand warmers were in demand this morning.   A generous donor donated new women’s and men’s weather proof winter coats which helps keep this ministry going.
  • We met a new friend (T) who was very soft spoken and a true gentleman.  We hooked him up with our packet of $10 bill/$10 Dunkin Donuts card/prayer card.   When we asked if he needed anything else, he whispered socks and a tee shirt and his reaction when we said no problem and handed him everything made our morning.
  • It’s coming up on 2 years that we have been seeing our same friends on the street.   Their physical appearances have deteriorated during this time with more scars and hospital stays.  When speaking to one of our friends (Jessie) we told him when his addiction stops removing the inner isolation and loneliness, he may come to a crossroad.  We told him when this happens to pray like he has never prayed before asking God to relieve him of this terrible bondage of mind, body and spirit.
  • Our friend (Kathleen) was walking on crutches because of a severe infection on her feet.  She and (Shane) were taken in by a good Samaritan, because of her condition, on a temporary basis.
  • We were speaking with a friend (Ron) who just got out of jail.  He mentioned he needed to get out of town to get his act together.   I mentioned that most times a geographical move doesn’t work because we just take the problem to another city or town, never addressing the problem.  This creates a merry-go-round of broken hearts and broken promises just with different scenery.  We hope and pray all of our friends will come to a crossroad that will address the real problem.

With the weather changing, sweatpants and hooded sweatshirts along with gently used winter coats (men’s and women’s) are needed.  Thank you to all who support OSM.

PLEASE NOTE:  We have changed our location for donations for On the Street Ministry from Holy Cross Retreat House to My Brother’s Keeper.  We currently have a box in the main stairway on the 1st floor of MBK.  If you have recurring orders through Amazon or any other retail website, please change the delivery address to:
